Why do the disciples ask Jesus another question on divorce?

Mark 10:10 (ESV)

10 And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter.

Jewish men at the time believed that divorce was permissible. The disciples have just heard Jesus say that divorce is contrary to God’s original plans and purposes for marriage. This has surprised them which is why they ask Jesus for further clarity.
