How does Mark 10:7-8 speak against divorce?

Mark 10:7–8 (ESV)

7 ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife,

God’s purpose in marriage is for two people of the opposite sex to live together in lifelong union. God’s will concerning divorce is thus expressed in Genesis 1:27 and Genesis 2:23–24, where Moses (since it is the book of Genesis) shows that God delights in the institution of marriage.
