This verse shows the tremendous proportions of the tree that Nebuchadnezzar saw. The influence and glory of this tree are especially great. For further explanation, see at Daniel 4:21–22. It seems that man will reach his goal through Nebuchadnezzar and that Nebuchadnezzar will lead man to his goal, just as the tree of life was supposed to do in the thoughts of many people at the time. It seems like the king of Babylon can ensure that man will be able to complete the task of exercising ''dominion'' that God gave in Genesis 1:26–28. He looks like the tree of life.
12 Its leaves were beautiful and its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all. The beasts of the field found shade under it, and the birds of the heavens lived in its branches, and all flesh was fed from it.
