Goal of Sermon on Mark 6:1–6

Mark 6:1–6 (ESV)

1 He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him.

In keeping with the goal of Mark’s Gospel, your sermon must answer the question, Who is Jesus? This passage is a great opportunity to talk about Jesus’ prophetic office: he is the one who has come to reveal God to us (John 1:18), and so we should listen to him.
