The third command, which serves as the conclusion to the whole discussion, confirms that disorder was far too often the norm in the Corinthian church. The command to maintain decency and order in the worship service pertains to more than only tongues and prophecy (although these two gifts have been the focus of 1 Corinthians 14:1–40). It pertains to all things.
After all, the God whom we worship is not a God of confusion but of peace
(1 Corinthians 14:33).
