Commentary on 1 Corinthians 13:6 (Summary)

1 Corinthians 13:6 (ESV)

6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.

In this perfectly balanced statement, truth and wrongdoing feature as opposites (cf. Romans 1:18; 1 John 1:6). Love does not take joy in seeing sins and scandals. It searches for good and rejoices over everything that is in accordance with the truth of God’s Word (see further Philippians 4:8).
