Commentary on 1 Corinthians 12:17 (Summary)

1 Corinthians 12:17 (ESV)

17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell?

With a bizarre illustration, Paul shows how foolish it is to emphasize certain spiritual gifts to such an extent that other gifts are overlooked.  How would a body be able to survive and function if it was only an eye or only an ear?
