Commentary on 1 Corinthians 12:14 (Summary)

1 Corinthians 12:14 (ESV)

14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many.

Still employing the metaphor of a body, Paul goes on to argue that, far from being harmful, variety in the church is actually necessary. Just as one body part does not make a body, so one spiritual gift cannot make up the church. The beauty of the human body and of the church lies in the variety of parts that function harmoniously as a whole.
