A fool either ridicules or rages against a wise man, but he will never submit to the wise man’s reasoning, no matter how logical and sweet it is. Therefore, the Word of God warns us not to be foolishly blind and unreasonable, protesting against the light of truth. We are further warned not to expect those addicted to their own foolishness to understand or accept the weight of our best and truest arguments. The condemnation of such fools is clearly just.
9 If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.
