How old were the children?

Mark 10:13 (ESV)

13 And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.

The Greek word used for children can refer to any child between the ages of eight days and twelve years.1 Most likely, however, these children were very young, since Jesus is able to take them into his arms (Mark 10:16). In a parallel passage (Luke 18:15) we are told that the children were babies.
