1 Corinthians 7:35 (ESV)

35 I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.

Stay unmarried if possible. This is the general principle, which gains special significance in times of persecution. Again, the principle is given not as a command, but as well-founded advice.
