1 Corinthians 1:23 (ESV)

23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,

Neither the Jews’ demand for signs nor the Greeks’ demand for wisdom can lead to true wisdom. God has chosen to impart wisdom through the preaching of the gospel, the content of which is the crucified Christ.
