Why is it striking that the angels are standing?

Revelation 7:1 (ESV)

1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree.

It is striking because the earthquake of Revelation 6:12 was so great (see Revelation 6:14) that no creature could physically remain standing.
