What is significant in the use of the term “apostles”?

Mark 6:30 (ESV)

30 The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught.

The use of this “professional” name is a reminder of the fact that the Twelve had officially been sent out to preach and to cast out demons (Mark 6:7–13). Having fulfilled their charge they now report officially to Jesus.1
