Who are those that received the true light?

John 1:12 (ESV)

12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

To receive means to entrust oneself to Jesus, to acknowledge his claims and to confess him. Those who receive him are thus those who believe in his name, who respond with faith rather than rejection.
