1. Revelation 14:1 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What is the significance of having the names written on their foreheads?

Revelation 14:1 (ESV)

1 Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.

Each of these 144,000 has two names inscribed on the forehead: 1. the name of the Lamb (Jesus Christ), 2. the name of the Lamb’s Father. In Revelation 7:3–4 the 144,000 received an undefined seal on their foreheads. It would appear that our present verse tells us that the seal of Revelation 7:3 was the name of the Lamb and the name of the Lord God. The point then is that the Lord has laid his claim on his chosen.
