What is the purpose of the beast's blasphemy?

Revelation 13:6 (ESV)

6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven.

By speaking evil of the Lord God, the beast sought to express contempt for God, belittle him, and so position himself as superior and worthy of the adoration God claimed.
