Why are the words “and to his throne” added?

Revelation 12:5 (ESV)

5 She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne,

This child was “to rule all the nations with a rod of iron.” That he is taken up God’s throne indicates that the child’s ruling over the nations began. This has been further described in Revelation 5:1–14.
