What is Christian love?

1 John 5:1 (ESV)

1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him.

This is one of the most important characteristics of Christianity, and was unlike anything found in the pagan religions of that day. This love came from God and not from the people themselves. Its divine source therefore gave it its special character!1
