What is significant of Jesus' actions after he awoke?

Mark 4:39 (ESV)

39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Instead of helping the disciples as they expected, Jesus stands up and starts speaking to the wind and the waves. We know that his family thought he was mad (see Mark 3:21), just imagine what the disciples must have been thinking when they saw Jesus doing this?
