1. Amos 2:4 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

How might Israel have responded to the Lord’s judgment of Judah?

Amos 2:4 (ESV)

4 Thus says the LORD: “For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they have rejected the law of the LORD, and have not kept his statutes, but their lies have led them astray, those after which their fathers walked.

The northern Israelites must have delighted in hearing Judah being denounced for apostasy from the Mosaic law since that is an accusation that has often come from them (2 Chronicles 13:5–12; 1 Kings 14:22–24; 2 Kings 17:19).1
