What is the significance of the Lamb taking the scroll?

Revelation 5:7 (ESV)

7 And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne.

This Lamb was able to approach the throne of God, lightning and living creatures notwithstanding (Revelation 4:5–6), and actually take the scroll from God’s right hand. The term take in the original indicates that he not only took the scroll but kept it. The take is the climax of his crucifixion (“as though…slain”), his resurrection (“standing”), and his ascension (“went”). Now the action God intended (Revelation 5:1) can be.g.in according to details written in this scroll – once he begins to open the seals (Revelation 6:1–17).
