Who was Jeshua?

Ezra 5:2 (ESV)

2 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak arose and began to rebuild the house of God that is in Jerusalem, and the prophets of God were with them, supporting them.

The name Jeshua (Joshua) literally means, The Lord is salvation. It is the Old Testament name from which the name Jesus comes. Jeshua was the son of Jozadak and descendant of Jedaiah (one of the twenty-four priestly families organized by David in 1 Chronicles 24:1–31). He was the grandson of Seraiah, the high priest during the destruction of Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 6:14; 2 Kings 25:18). Jeshua was the first high priest of the Jewish community that returned from exile.
