The division of the account of Abram, Sarai, and Hagar

Genesis 16:1–16 (ESV)

1 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. She had a female Egyptian servant whose name was Hagar.

It can be divided into three scenes (Genesis 16:1–4, 5–6, 7–13), one comment (Genesis 16:14), and finally the conclusion (Genesis 16:15–16). The third scene (vv. 7–13) is the main one where Hagar is addressed by the angel of the Lord.
