Why did Jael give him milk instead of water?

Judges 4:19 (ESV)

19 And he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” So she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him.

It is unclear why Jael made this substitution. Some explainers suggest she did this as part of her seduction. Others suggest that the introduction of milk to the narrative intentionally intensifies the mothering motif.1
