1. Exposition

What might Sisera's background be?

Judges 4:2 (ESV)

2 And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth-hagoyim.

The name Sisera is non-Semitic. It might be Hittite or Hurrian like Shamgar, or he may have been a prominent member of the so-called Sea People who arrived in Canaan from the region around the Adriatic in the early Iron Age.1
