1. Philippians 1:21 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What challenge does this verse contain?

Philippians 1:21 (ESV)

21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

In its brevity this verse contains something of a challenge: the reader is invited to take a moment to reflect on how Paul could phrase something so succinctly and excellently: to live is Christ, to die is gain! Is this expression not a little too concise?1
