  2. Exposition

What promise does the Lord extend to his weak church in Philadelphia?

Revelation 3:9 (ESV)

9 Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and they will learn that I have loved you.

Using the attention-drawing term behold, Jesus pledges to cause “those of the synagogue of Satan” to “come and bow down before your feet.” Given the Lord’s self-identification in Revelation 3:7, his readers in Philadelphia (and around the world) are to know that this promise is not at all beyond his ability to fulfill.
