Matthew 1:24 (ESV)

We always speak with due admiration of Mary, who submitted to God, who said to the angel, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). But what we see here is that Joseph’s submission to God was as complete as Mary’s. In the end, Joseph refuses to be led by shame or anger. He submits in trust to his God. And in this simple obedience, we come to see in the house of David the triumph of faith. Joseph, and Mary for that matter, were prepared by the Word of God to act in simple faith.1
