These words give a chilling description of just how committed and thorough the invading forces will be. The Babylonians are the Lord’s servant, even if they do not recognize it, and they will carry out their task of destruction as though driven by the fear of being cursed by the Lord if they fail. This is a terrifying warning to the people of Moab of just how comprehensive the Lord’s judgment will be.1
