Jerusalem’s constant sinning is described by the phrase she took no thought of her future.
Jerusalem did not think of the consequences of her consistent sinning. She did not take her future into consideration. She did not care about her covenant responsibility, which was to reflect God’s holiness in daily living. She acted irresponsibly without caring what would happen next. With this attitude, she also did not think that things would turn out as they did.
9 Her uncleanness was in her skirts; she took no thought of her future; therefore her fall is terrible; she has no comforter. “O LORD, behold my affliction, for the enemy has triumphed!”
