Joel 1:1–20 (ESV)

1 The word of the LORD that came to Joel, the son of Pethuel:

The prophet describes a terrible plague of locusts, accompanied by a severe drought. This has already caused complete devastation in the countryside. Joel portrays this plague as a harbinger of the day of the Lord, and calls for repentance.
