What is ironic about the Pharisees taking immediate action?

Mark 3:6 (ESV)

6 The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.

The fact that they arrange a meeting even on the Sabbath shows that Jesus rightly asked if it is lawful to kill someone on the Sabbath!1
