1. Mark 3:2 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Are the opponents already known in the narrative?

Mark 3:2 (ESV)

2 And they watched Jesus, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him.

Mark gives the impression that the unnamed opponents in this synagogue are already known, namely, from the preceding story about the plucking of heads of grain on the Sabbath (the Pharisees: Mark 2:24; cf. Mark 3:6).1
