Nehemiah had mentioned Meshullam the son of Berechiah
in Nehemiah 3:4. In all probability, the present builder is the same man; after completing his first section he repaired a second, this time opposite his chamber,
a reference to where he lived.
30 After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph repaired another section. After him Meshullam the son of Berechiah repaired opposite his chamber.
