What is the significance of the phrase “their brothers”?
Nehemiah 3:18 (ESV)
18After him their brothers repaired: Bavvai the son of Henadad, ruler of half the district of Keilah.
The pronoun their must refer to the two Levites of Nehemiah 3:17, namely, Rehum and Hashabiah. The term brothers tells us that Bavvai and Ezer were relatives to Rehum and Hashabiah, and so also Levites.
18 After him their brothers repaired: Bavvai the son of Henadad, ruler of half the district of Keilah.
