What must John write down?

Revelation 1:19 (ESV)

19 Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this.

He must record what he has seen thus far as well as what he’ll further be shown. These phrases comprise the entirety of the book of Revelation, without suggesting that one phrase or the other refers to particular chapters (see also Revelation 1:1).
