1. Romans 16:21 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Why does Paul mention his kinsmen Lucius, Jason and Sosipater in the conclusion of the letter to the Romans?

Romans 16:21 (ESV)

21 Timothy, my fellow worker, greets you; so do Lucius and Jason and Sosipater, my kinsmen.

Paul mentions the greetings of a few of his Jewish kinsmen to encourage the Gentile church at Rome. As Jewish Christians, Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater do not keep their distance from the mainly Gentile Christian church. On the contrary, they send their hearty greetings to them.1
