Prisca and Aquila are Paul’s old acquaintances from his early time in Corinth, fellow workers in the gospel in Ephesus, and now active in Rome. This couple fulfils a pioneering role in Rome. They make their house available as a meeting place for a church (a portion of the Christian community in Rome, see also Romans 16:14–15). They have in the meantime also become well-known among the Gentile Christians in the region where Paul is still working. All those churches are thankful for the fact that Prisca and Aquila now devote themselves to the spreading of the gospel among the Gentiles in Rome.1
