Jesus completely disagrees with his disciples. They must immediately stop sending away those parents and their children. Jesus is even indignant about the disciples' attitude (Mark 10:14). Those little children are allowed to come very close to him. They are important in Jesus' eyes. He takes them in his arms and blesses them (see Mark 10:16). Jesus also provides a surprising explanation for the adults by pointing them to the kingdom of God. A person can only belong to that kingdom of God by becoming like those little children. That certainly raises questions.
16 But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
