Jesus speaks with great emphasis and authority here. The words I am
recall the Lord's presentation to Moses (Exodus 3:14; see also Isaiah 44:6). Jesus is on the same level as God the Father. This is evident from the second part of this verse: No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus is more than a guide for the journey. He himself is the way. Only through him can we find God. This is a strong warning for conceited people. There is only one way to God, and that way leads through Jesus. Whoever affirms this receives much. For Jesus is also the truth.
He is trustworthy in word and deed. We as humans can rely on him. He wants to bring us home to be with God. After all, he gave his life to ensure that. And through him, eternal life flows to us. A human being cannot receive anything more beautiful than that.
