The lighters of fire and kindlers of firebrands are ironically commanded to walk by the light of their fire, and come to see that their man-made light will devour them instead of delivering them, for it is useless to save.1 All it does is lead them to see the Lord as the guilty one for their exile.
11 Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who equip yourselves with burning torches! Walk by the light of your fire, and by the torches that you have kindled! This you have from my hand: you shall lie down in torment.
