What image does the mention of a flint convey?

Isaiah 50:7 (ESV)

7 But the Lord GOD helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.

A flint is a hard rock. Isaiah uses the word in a simile, to capture the firm determination of the Servant in his obedience to the Lord, with no temptation luring him from his God-ordained course of obedience.1
