What is this cry?

Psalm 17:1 (ESV)

1 Hear a just cause, O LORD; attend to my cry! Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit!

This term could be understood to refer to something like a loud, even a ringing, piercing cry. At the very least, David is praying with great intensity to the Lord, crying out for help.
