The people, who have for so long been misled by their priests and prophets, have now become disillusioned with them. They want nothing to do with them and tell them that they are the unclean ones. Not even the surrounding nations want the priests and prophets to stay with them. Perhaps, out of superstition, the nations thought that these spiritual leaders might bring the same disaster over them as had overcome Jerusalem.
15 “Away! Unclean!” people cried at them. “Away! Away! Do not touch!” So they became fugitives and wanderers; people said among the nations, “They shall stay with us no longer.”
