Why did Michal not have any children?

2 Samuel 6:23 (ESV)

23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.

The barrenness of Michal is most likely an old covenant curse (see Exodus 23:26; Deuteronomy 7:14; Deuteronomy 28:11) in response to her disdain for David.1 It also serves to affirm that Saul’s house would have no ongoing part in the kingship of Israel (see 1 Samuel 13:13–14).2
