The blessing of Obed-edom and his household confirms that the Lord’s favour comes when he is honoured. The ark was not automatically deadly. Curses come only when the Lord is disobeyed, but where he is honoured there is blessing. The blessing experienced by Obed-edom was likely in the form of fertile crops and animals (see 1 Chronicles 26:8).1
11 And the ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months, and the LORD blessed Obed-edom and all his household.
