This is the shortest list of children born to David in Jerusalem (see 1 Chronicles 3:5–9; 1 Chronicles 14:4–6).1 In this list, the name of Solomon stands out above all the others. He was the son of Bathsheba (2 Samuel 12:24–25), and he would go on to rule after David despite not being the eldest son (1 Kings 1:28–40; 1 Chronicles 22:9–10).
