How did David know that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel?
The gifts which David received from the king of Tyre—cedar logs—were highly prized for building large structures.1 They served as a confirmation to him that Jerusalem was to be his permanent residence and that he enjoyed the Lord’s favour.2 He realized that he was indebted to the Lord for all that he had.3
