Where was Metheg-ammah?

2 Samuel 8:1 (ESV)

1 After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

This is the only time in the Bible that reference is made to Metheg-ammah. Read together with 1 Chronicles 18:1, Metheg-ammah is most likely a reference to the Philistine capital, Gath. Commentators have argued that the phrase means Bridle of the Mother City.
